Day 30: El dolor es parte de la vida

Yesterday evening was a bit of an anticlimax. After watching the sunset I had dinner, but Marguerita's cooking is not as good as Rosita's. I met up with Barbaro and Nicole at the Casa de la Musica and danced some salsa, but my heart wasn't really in it.

After, we went to Fresa y Chocolate, but it was too busy and we didn't get in, and it was the same at another club. They suggested to go back to the Casa de la Musica, but I'd had enough and went home, after saying my goodbyes to Barbaro and Nicole.

This morning, Marguerita and Carlos took off to go and prepare some kind of fiesta, so I had to say goodbye to them as well. Marguerita apparently had trouble hoisting herself into the truck...

I went out for a walk and sat on the stairs at the Casa de la Musica and then I went back and packed my stuff. I said goodbye to Rosita, Iris and Yoel and I took off. I admit I was crying on the bus, I really hate saying goodbye to people, especially knowing that I may never see them again.

The bus trip was uneventful. One thing that did cheer me up a bit was the film they showed. A seventies Chinese martial arts film, dubbed in American English with Spanish subtitles. Hilarious to read the subtitles! I arrived back in Havana at about 9, and took a taxi to Ivon's house, where they were waiting for me. I am in Nuelen's room as the other two have been rented out. At least Ivon noticed I had some more colour!

After Rosita's cooking, Ivon's suddenly seems a lot less appealing and I was tired and sad, so I didn't eat much. I went to Los Siete Mares where I saw Sofie, Noemie and Franc and I said my goodbyes to them as well.

I know more good things are still to come, and when I step on the plane the excitement about the next phase of my trip will hit me. But at the moment I feel a bit low.
