Still day 7, Cuban Cuisine

I admit I am pleasantly surprised about Cuban cooking. As you may have guessed, food is important to me...

Oh, itīs nothing fancy and there are a few recurring themes, but I have eaten lots of different things already and the only thing I didnīt like was hamburgers, which are not even typically Cuban.

This is what Iīve come to expect on my plate
1. Rice
In every shape and form. Plain boiled, with beans, called frijoles or with more beans.
2. Aguacate
Avocado, usually with garlic
3. Guyabo
Guava. You can eat it like an apple, peel it, make milkshake or fruit juice with it and it is absolutely delicious. As I donīt drink coffee, I get it for breakfast every day. Yesss!
4. Boniato, malanga, papa, yucca
All taste like potatoes and are made in the same way, fried, baked, boiled etc, often with sugar on it, instead of salt
5. meat
chicken, pig etc

Iīm also a big fan of platanos, little bananas which taste twenty times better than Chiquita bananas.

Iīve been told that at one casa particular, they even get lobster because the guy there likes to cook and makes something special everyday. But Iīm quite happy with my Cuban cook...
