June 19, 2004Work Release Program
This week could have been a drag. Instead of beginning what I had hoped would be a 2 month trip to SE Asia (via the London Boot Bash), I found myself engaged in an orgy of practicality. In a year where it seemed impossible to find a teaching job, in the last 5 days I interviewed at two schools, turned down a third, taught all week in my first college adjunct gig, consulted for a legendary criminal defense lawyer and entered (yet another) graduate degree program. So it looks like NO ESCAPE this year, but I've got no worries. In fact I've begun to think that, like most lifer's, I may not actually function outside the institution. So rather than plan my escape, I've decided that I might be better served in the "work-release" program. It may be a while before I go RTW, but in a month or two every year, perhaps I can scratch my travel itch. Here's hoping! Comments
Congratulations on the job anyway. :-) Posted by: Dave on June 24, 2004 02:33 PM |
