Don't you just love getting mail? I do. I still feel like a seven-year-old. "Its really for me, Mommy"?!? I remember getting my first real business letter addressed to "Mr. Eric M. Bayne, Esq." I closed my office door and giggled. Some days I stll feel like I'm "playing grown-up" except that the clothes fit and I never have to put my toys away. Anyway, today I got a package from Amazon containing some travel books: Lonely Planet/Vietnam, Lonely Planet Iceland, and Insight Guide/Iceland. I've been intrigued by Vietnam for the last couple of years, and I've recently been made aware of Iceland -- isn't funny how once you notice a country all of a sudden there are articles everywhere? I can't wait to read them. Besides getting out and doing some walking during my Thanksgiving holiday break (5 blissful days) I'm going to savor each one. I'll let y'all (did I just type "y'all... yep, sure did, I've been in Texas too long this time) you guys know what I think. In the meantime feel free to barrage me with your favorite travel destinations and books. -eb BTW Bootboys, I clicked through to Amazon from your site -- make sure you get your referral. To others, be sure to use the Boot-links to go to your fave e-shops, that's an easy way to grease the palms of our favorite webmasters. Comments
Iceland kicks arse, man. I spent a truly surreal 24 hrs there a couple years ago on a free stopover to Europe and it definitely deserves a return when I've more cash (it's a bit on the pricey side - kinda like the states, actually). Good decision. Bring wool socks! Posted by: delara on January 21, 2004 07:40 PMI won't get there this year, but maybe next Christmas or spring break. I would most like to go during their independence festival, but that gets pretty high $$. I know what you mean by the States, if I didn't live here, I probably couldn't afford to visit. I guess that's why it pays to have a network of friendly couchesand spare bedrooms! -eb Posted by: eb on January 23, 2004 09:10 AMah, the network will grow now that you visit bootsnall with more frequency. I can't wait to stay on couches in India, Oz and all over the UK. God bless bootsnall's little socks. Posted by: delara on January 23, 2004 07:41 PMHey, My wife is Icelandic and I've spent a few months there. In addition, we are currently living outside of Ft. Worth in order to save up for a RTW trip, which actually includes a whole year (at the onset) living in Iceland. Let me know if you want, or need, further info. on the subject. It's probably the only area outside of Texas that I could actually provide decent "insider" knowledge.....well, maybe a few other places, but that's strictly ego.... Later...
