February 06, 2005Bom Carnival!
So made it to Rio after a lengthy (18+ hr) bus ride from Floripa. We quickly found an Apt. to rent because it comes out to less than the hostle and we get our own place, instead of 7 people crammed in a tiny room. Our Apt. is in Copacabana, right behind the Copacabana Palace Hotel. It has been raining alot, but that hasnt slowed down the festivities one bit. We went to a block party in Santa Thersa. It was really crowded! There were lots of drummers and vendors selling booze and food. The scene was nothing short of crazy with people getting completely trashed and going ape shit to the pulse of the music, singing, dancing, and clapping their hands. Tonight I go to the Sambodromo to check out the Samba schools, so Ill give a full report later. Comments |
