April 11, 2005what condition my condition is in
so, ive passed the one month mark here in venezuela, and the 3 month mark for my time here in south america. Well, my spanish has improved signifigantly since ive arrived, but i still have a bit more to go, as i still think in english and lack lots of vocabulary, verbs, excellent grammer, and all the other stuff that comes with learning a new language. I still dont like this town (barquisimeto), and am still not to impressed with the people or culture of this country. Work is going ok, teaching is pretty fun at times, since i am basically paid to have conversations with students in english. but,at the end of the day i get tired of talking slow english. the hours suck as well 8am-9:30am then 3:30pm until 9:30pm. the job is an inhibiting factor to my spanish development at times because of the hours and that i have to speak english at my job. My housing situation is uncertain right now too, sice i have to move out of my current room this wed. It just wasnt working out, the old lady that i was renting the room from was fuckin crazy, and lots of stuff in the house was broken and the cheap old bitch from hell didnt bother to fix anything. (as you can tell i am really quite fond of her). so ive been looking for a new room to rent, but thats proving to be hard to pin down (a place i want to live, anyway). As a consequence, i am thinking about cutting my time in venezuela short as i have been quite unhappy since i have arrived here. Ill at least stick around another 2 months here just to give it a shot and not be a total quiter, but im ready to move on to new places with different faces. After being in venezuela, the old Imperalist USA looks like heaven on Earth. Also, im flat broke now since my job pays shit and i dont have any credit or ATM cards, but according to my parents the new cards are in the mail. Comments |
