September 09, 2005Calligraphy Lesson
I had my first shufa lesson today with Wang Wei Hong. It was great. I learnt some more Chinese culture and some abstract words. I can now say the four principles of Chinese handwriting are brush, ink, paper and stone. Like I said completely useless when asking for directions or anything but thoroughly enjoying all the same. Wang Wei Hong was delighted and very patient with me. I'm also learning the names of the strokes as I go, so needless to say my mind was melting by the end of the lesson. I can now write both rice and middle in fancy handwriting, although I'm a little disappointed no matter how hard I tried you could always tell which characters and lines I had done compared with Wang Wei Hong. For some reason hers look authentic and mine kind of look like block print. Being the good student I am I will practice everyday as directed and we'll see if there is any improvement - next class is Monday afternoon. Comments
