134: Japan Photos

April 28th, 2006

I added a whole bunch of Japan Photos to Flickr.
It’s far from complete as at least half of the photos are still missing but it’s a start 😉

Currently added are pictures from:
Tokyo, Nikko, Chuzenji, Yumoto, Kamakura, Fuji Go-Ko, Takayama and Unzen.

133: Kiwi Style

April 27th, 2006

A quick “realtime” blog since I am sitting at the computer when I had this thought..

Clearly I’m not “In” with my current appearance as there seem to be loads and loads of Kiwi guys wearing beards 🙂 No, I won’t give in and follow the trend but it’s strange to see all those guys with beards 😀

Another style thing seems to be half length shorts and walking barefoot in town.

Funny place this New Zealand 😉

132: Japan Updates

April 26th, 2006

While it rains in Christchurch I can spend some time updating my blogs (a mess right now), adding some details about my Japan trip and also send some pictures from Japan to flickr.

Work goes slowly but that’s expected;-) After a day of work I managed to blog about Tokyo and add pictures from Tokyo, Nikko, Chuzenji and Yumoto to Flickr.

Chuzenji and Yumoto are near Nikko but and I went there on a day trip from Nikko but I did not want to mix the photos with the ones from Nikko, it would just get confusing..

How to browse the new photos? Hmm guess as usual best to go day-by-day via the Calendar View.

130: Kyoto, Nara and Bye Bye Japan

April 19th, 2006

I’ve only got a few minutes to write this so better type quick..

I think I stopped the last blog at Takamatsu. Since then I visited Okayama Castle and Gardens, Himeji castle, Koyo-En Gardens and a Mountain Temple Complex in the Hills around Himeji before continuing to Kyoto. Details about the above will follow when I have more time but maybe I can do a mini bog about Kyoto beforetime runs out..

110: Japan Thoughts (was “Tokyo Impressions”)

April 15th, 2006

This is another old blog which I started when I was still in Tokyo but did not finish due to lack of internet access since then.. Its not very coherent because it was partly written when I just arrived and then finished now after 2 weeks but who cares ;-0

The bottomline is Japan is a difficult pace to judge! I could not care less for Tokyo and other big cities but some of the historical sites and landscapes are very impressive indeed.

128: Japan Costs

April 14th, 2006

I found this unposted blog which I wrote a while ago.. not much has changed since so just for the record a few thoughts on Japan Travel Costs…

I think there must be some serious holes in my pockets cos my money is disappearing at such an incredible rate that I do almost wonder if this country is worth it 😉 I said almost

127: South and Back Again – Part 1

April 13th, 2006

At long last I found some internet access again which gives me a chance to briefly summarise where I have been during the last few days..

I have been rather rather busy during the last few days as I have almost been travelling through half of Japan 😀

I went from Unzen thought Shimbara Peninsula and Kumamoto to the Aso-San Volcanic Mountains, continued to the Hotspring Town of Beppo and then left the Kyushu District to travel to Hiroshima and Miyajima. From there I continued via Okayama to Shinjuku Peninsula where I visited Oboke and Iya Valley, a scenic mountaineous area with nice Gorges.
From Oboke I went to Takamatsu in the northern part of Shinjuku Peninsula where I am at the moment.
