Last few days on Koh Tao

Monday, August 18th, 2008

Already we come to our final few days on Koh Tao, our little isle of paradise on the Gulf of Thailand.

On the 16th we went over to  Koh Pangnan for the August full moon party. We went along with the two geordie boys, Adam and Andrew that we met in Laos, a guy called Howard who bares a striking resemblance to Des, the Scottish man from Lost, and once on the island met two girls from Chelmsford that had made friends with Adam, Andrew and Howard on the boat from Chumporn. Kasey and Natalie, who Lauren made firm friends with within seconds of meeting them when she immediately noticed that Kasey was wearing Benefit mascara, quite remarkable.

The party was good fun, I managed to find my place on the microphone once more, even if having to share it with considerably more hostile  ‘I’m from saff Landan’ mc’s. Still, was a good crack.

At one point I must have fallen asleep, as so many do, on the beach. I woke up with Lauren asleep on my chest. This was alright though ‘cos I was using my mate Adam’s stomach as my own pillow.

Two days later, and sand is still falling out of parts of me.

Nice Surprises

Saturday, August 16th, 2008

Wowsers it got hot on Koh Tao over the past few days. The heat brought something else with it too, an eriee silence to the island, everone seems to have gone home or moved on to pastures new.  I’m not using hyperbole about the weather though, the temperature must have risen to the high 80’s and I’ve gone from lightly tanned to darker than dark in a matter of days.

Lauren and I phoned Quantas’s Bangkok office yesterday to change the dates of our flights, otherwise, we would have been in out of Sydney by mid November and back on home soil by early December. We were already warned that doing this would cost us 50 squids each but when we phoned up to book there was no surcharge, so thats at least another week of living in Thailand sorted, monetary wise!

Some of our Laos buddies arrived on Koh Tao last night, the two geordie boys Adam and Andrew and with them a Yorkshire lad called Howard. The five of us are going to this months Full Moon party tonight and with weather as perfect as this (last full moon monsooned non-stop for 8 hours) I absolutely cannot wait.

During my excitement over full moon, I may have neglected a few facts that in retrospect are fairly important. |The most important being that Lauren outlasted me at the full moon party. By 5-6ish I was done and done with ... [Continue reading this entry]

The coolest thing I’ve ever done…

Sunday, July 20th, 2008
The rain pelted down in buckets, lumo paint glowed brightly and I was wearing a poncho, all in all, the setup wasn't too far from the Glastonbury festival. But this wasn't the festival, this was the full moon party, and thousands ... [Continue reading this entry]

Uber super hyper party

The massed throngs have descended upon Koh Pagnan, the fire works are being lit, the samsong and redbull buckets are being prepared. It is time for the full moon party. The island itself seems relatively nice, that is of course, ... [Continue reading this entry]
