Paydirt

Hip-hip-horray, got a small advance on my pay and it is very, very sweet to be able to put money in the bank once more. I can now fully emphasise with the Monopoly man.

Today was strenuous, we had to carry wrought (sp!) iron radiators up a flight of stairs. To give you an idea at home what this is like, heat your oven up to 250C, then hold your hands and forearms in it for 15 minutes. Burning?  so are mine, about six hours later. My hands are turning into gnarled working-class talons. But sweet Lord, I got some pay today!

Been actively trying to find interesting things to do in Melbourne to feel more like a backpacker again, there’s some bits and bobs about, but its all speculation at the moment, and there’s always the high possibility that I’ll spend my Saturday watching T.V. in my boxers. There’s a writer’s festival on over the next few weeks, along with some interesting fringe theaters and some good rave nights are looming, thanks to the Christmas festivities (in the baking heat.)

Had an uber-touch today, Melbourne Library offers free internet for one hour. That’s a saving of like $6 if we’re using the net at our place, and a nice excuse for me to wait for Lauren when she finished work at 6. She’s still loving it, although we both have colds (hers worse than mine) from working so much. Still, Lauren gets paid on Friday, so she can join my jubilation of not living on the bread line anymore.

On a side note; I know that Australia banned non-white immigration until around 30 years ago, I know that it has a reputation for racism, but right now, just to my left, there is actually a skinhead with skull tattoos looking at Nazi websites.

If someone can say ‘yes’ on a comment before I log off, that’s all the encouragement I’ll need to throw a jab.

(not really mum.)

Can’t help it. I like starting fights on different continents right before I go to sleep. Yes.

Sadly just as I read your message I went from being a 6ft 5 man into a little girl in a pink dress. Maybe, just maybe, as Nazi with SS tats on his skull has been in one or two more fights than me. Yesterday was no day to be killed by a Nazi, that’s fo’ sure.
    Thanks for participating though
