Sicily

Sicily

I am really sorry we haven’t been keeping up on our blog. We decided that we are going to use Sicily as our hanging out area, so we decided to relax and not post much on our blog. In Paris our time was taken up with sightseeing. The computer was used either for booking our next stay or school, so we had literally no time to post. Now, in Morocco, we finally have some time just to hang out and write, so we have a lot of catching up to do.
We’ll start in Syracuse, Sicily. We caught a night train in Rome so the train ride seemed very quick.
This is what Emma has to say:

September 22
Today we woke up and we were in Sicily. We took a really fun night train there. We went to our apartment except we couldn’t find the person who owned it and had the keys. So we hung out all day at a small cafĂ© with stray cats hanging out. At the end of the day we got to our place and settled down.

The next day we went to a park that had Roman and Greek ruins. There was a stray cat that I started petting and it came over and sat on my lap and started purring.
The next day we just hung out at our place.
The day after that we got on a plane to Paris.

The main highlight of our trip to Syracuse really was the ‘park that had Greek and Roman ruins’. It was a big park that housed numerable caves and Greek and Roman amphitheaters. The best amphitheater was definitely the Greek one, having been much more well preserved due to it not being as easy to loot as the Roman one (the Greek Amphitheater was carved out right from the rock). The Roman amphitheater was also overgrown with weeds, detracting form the overall appearance. I thought the Greek place was really cool.

There also were two caves, the ear of Dyonosus, so named because of it’s shape and a legend that Dyonosus put prisoners in here to listen in on their conversations. (the cave has great echoes.) The other cave was the cave of the weavers.

It was very relaxing, much unlike our stay in Paris.
