napier trip
I’m going to napier in the morning. It’s (I think) this really cool deco town.
Wait, let me take a few steps back. I’m not calling anything in NZ a city anymore untill I’ve actually seen it. They call this place a city, I think it’s a podunk town. Even the guidebooks can’t come up with anything better here than the rugby museum (no thank you). So, for now Napier is a town.
next- Deco is art deco, you may have heard of it? (r. stop sniggering). Those of you who don’t know… wow, kinda sad. Get thee to an art/ archetecture (sp) history class! Or miami beach (mmm, miami beach….).
You do know about Miami’s south beach, right? All those cool hotels, with the swoopy, edgy neato buildings? all the cool old hotels and whatnot? Right, deco. So like that.
So I’m going tomorrow. It’s free! Me and 10 people who’s names I can never remember (because they aren’t nice enough to get them tattoo’d on their foreheads) are riding there in a van. Spending all day there (sorta). Then driving aaaaaallll the way back. In the van again. no spaceship or really cooshy touring bus.
Which would be fine and all, except.. well… it’s csi/svu/ criminal intent night! and study break. which is like spring break, only with more work and less fun.
Did I mention it’s a 2 or 3 or 6 hour drive each way? We’re leaving at 7 am. I hope I don’t have to be awake when we leave. I don’t have an espresso machine here.
I dread leaving that early. I have fear of seeing that early an hour from that end of sleep. Everyone knows that the only way you should ever see early-ass morning is from the night before!
This better be worth it. Then again it’s free. Maybe I can finish off that roll of film, and get you guys some photos finally.
