Look at all the nice snow

Thought of the day (while i’m cleaning).  Thinking about places to work and what to do.  I leave in a few weeks, and I’m looking at the timeline to see if i have time to go skiing one more time.  You see, skiing has been my thing for so long.  That’s all i used to want to do.  Now here in Edmonton, the snow is a plenty after the warmest winter I have ever seen.  The mountains must be great right now.

I was skiing by the age of 5.  When I first started to walk, i started to ski.  My dad used to build a little snow hill in the backyard and put me on it.  I would ski down, run around the yard and the he would put me back up on top of the hill.  Only one problem, i grew to love skiing so much, thats all i wanted to do.  In grade one, i got into trouble because I was drawing ski routes all over my math book, and not doing any work.  So yes, skiing by the age of 5 is a late estimate.  Ski school during the year instead of normal school would have been a great idea, except i had no idea it existed when i was small.  Eventually I went less and less.  I forgot the thrill of the first tracks, the speed, and the edge.

Some years back, at sunshine, i nearly had first tracks off to the right of the great divide.  There was a reason why.  My skiis were so ripped to shreds from rocks on that run that shreds of fiberglass stretched from the base of my skiis to as high as my knees.  My brother lost clean through a one inch chunks from his skiis.  The edges were ripped from the skiis as were now useless.  But was fun, and it renewed that thrill on the snow, the rocks, the speed.   I had to learn to ski again because of those newer shaped skis.  It was the search for powder that renewed once again what i had forgotten.  On my to do list: work at a ski hill.

If you get the chance (can afford it) you should go in a helicopter to the pristine ski areas!!!
