Off Trekking

Having seen a goat and a handful of roosters being slaughtered by decapitation two days ago at a sacrificial temple – with the barefooted faithful stepping on the blood-smeared floor afterwards – I think we’ve probably exhausted the sights and sounds of the Kathmandu Valley for now.

Tomorrow we’re moving on to visit two small towns of interest, Ghorka and Bandipur, and then by Friday or so we’ll start walking the Annapurna Circuit, which is considered the best trek in Nepal. It takes about 18-21 days to complete the circuit, and if we’re still up for it towards the end we’re going to detour off the circuit to join up with the Annapurna Sanctuary path and do that as well – a total of about 28 days.

All going well, blogs and photos will resume at the start of November.
