The whole world at my feet...

This blog is for my family and friends, to let them know my plans and predicaments, my adventures and experiences. To let them know when I'm on the move or staying put, and maybe even when I'm coming home - don't count on it anytime soon though! Enjoy...you are always on my mind, or at least at the back of my mind :-)

Weekend hangovers

June 25th, 2007

This weekend has been great.

On Friday night we all went out for Carrie’s going away party at Zoo, a club in Leicester Square. I kind of stupidly forgot my ID, not least because we’d been pre-drinking so we didn’t have to buy drinks there. All I had was my Oyster card and both my Aussie and UK keycards, but as Carrie was so loud and Lija was questioning the bouncer about scanning our IDs, he just turned to me and said “How old are you?” I said 22 and he let me in. Ok, so I’m off by a month but it is coming up soon!

Every bit of experience counts

June 22nd, 2007

Well, on Monday I start a student job at www.moneymagpie.co.uk A site run by Jasmine Birtles who is a financial expert. I went to meet her today and the rest of the team, three other girls who all seem very nice. They currently work from Jasmine’s home in Notting Hill, but it is on my tube line, only a halfa away and I don’t start until 10am on Monday.

Wednesday – mid week shopping

June 21st, 2007

Yesterday I decided seeing as everyone always wakes me up every morning cos they’re so noisy in the bathroom, that I’d go for a run. It’s so nice along the canal, and going running always gets me motivated for a busy day.

I took the bus into Oxford Circus, which takes a lot longer than the tube, but you actually get to see scenery. I bought a few new tops from Primark, which is a huge department store that is extremely cheap, but not necessarily nasty. I got 5 tops for 15 pounds, because two of my tops I brought over are already dying!

I also finally found a watch – I haven’t worn one for over six months. Where? I just couldn’t help myself – it’s a Tinkerbell watch from the Disney Store. It’s so cute! And a Tinkerbell bag that is black suede, very nice, fits my book and stuff. 🙂

Because we can, can, can!

June 10th, 2007

“Because we can, because we’ve got nothing better to do!” That has become our motto for the time spent preceding jobs in London. We seem to be living the London life, but still as inconspicuous tourists. Read the rest of this entry »

…the morning after

June 5th, 2007

Em had to get up and go to prepare for work and stuff, she lives further south, so she and Sarah got up and picked up Mike’s car and stuff from his place, but I was up by the time they got back. There was heaps of stuff left over from the day before, half had been in unopened freezer bags so we tossed all the festy looking stuff that had been in the sun. Read the rest of this entry »

Back in London, Derby Day at the races for Sarah’s 26th

June 5th, 2007

We came back to London today, dropped our packs off at Mile End and took the train back out to Sutton, where our friend Sarah lives. We met Sarah when backpacking the south island of New Zealand last year! Well, for her birthday she organised a day at the Epsom Downs Derby. Derby Day is magnificent, the snobs all have tickets for the grand stands, and some go on bus tours where the double deckers park right next to the track and get served by waiters and other preferential treatment.
