The whole world at my feet...

This blog is for my family and friends, to let them know my plans and predicaments, my adventures and experiences. To let them know when I'm on the move or staying put, and maybe even when I'm coming home - don't count on it anytime soon though! Enjoy...you are always on my mind, or at least at the back of my mind :-)

…more Milano!

July 25th, 2007

In terms of general getting around, the good old Milan metro (underground trains) got us from the few places we needed – the Duomo, Centrale Stazione, and Codorna Stazione. Similarly to Melbourne, Milan had old trams like our W75 class and newer trams too. We chose to walk a lot for the sake of window shopping and exploring and saving money!

Friday the 13th…

July 13th, 2007

This week has been very productive in terms of work. Not all of my stories have been uploaded to the website although they are on the system.

Here’s one to check out: http://www.moneymagpie.com/article/cutting-the-cost-of-household-cleaners-2/31

Tour de France

July 11th, 2007

Don’t laugh at my dodgy filming! This is just a bit of the Tour de France prologue that we were watching on Saturday. I’ve also uploaded more pics to Flickr.

This is at Constitution Hill, where the riders pass on both sides.

Enjoy!

A sunny weekend for sports-mad London

July 9th, 2007

Friday July 6th

After work there were still delays, in fact, from Notting Hill Gate all three tube lines had severe delays. So yet again I went over the city and it took an hour to get home. That’s fine, Lija was fast asleep on her bed under the covers when I reached home at about 8pm, complaining of being cold!

Independent on Sunday, my second story

July 8th, 2007

Hi everyone,

Not sure if I mentioned this during the week, but I wrote another story for the Independent about house-sitting as a way of making money. Unfortunately they didn’t publish my name on the website, but the newspaper version looks really good. Will be adding more pics tomorrow. love xoxo 🙂

Chaos at Mile End

July 6th, 2007

Well, I don’t think this story has made the news in Oz, though I could be wrong. Yesterday a train derailed at 9am underground in the tube on the central line between Mile End and Bethnal Green stations. Yes, my station. Yes, I walked down at quarter past nine to find half a dozen emergency services at the station as well as more on the way.

The train behind also got stopped, and 700 people were walked through the underground and out into fresh air by 11am.

I had to walk up to Stepney Green station (15mins) and get the train line over the top of the city, which took a little longer, but it wasn’t a huge disruption to my day.

Birthday Getaway – WE’RE OFF TO MILAN!!!

July 5th, 2007

Yes, you read correctly. When I turn 22 in several weeks, well the weekend before because my bday is mid-week this year, we are heading off for a long-weekend in Bergamo and Milan.

Lija managed to get cheap tickets, and I’ve booked a hostel for Bergamo, and we’re just looking at hotels for Milan.

No more organisation than that!

Yay! I’m so excited…and I just can’t hide it… hehe
