Oh my gosh, I’m in LOVE!
No, no, not with a guy, although that would be nice. I am, however, in love with SALSA!
Yep, Lija and I attended our second dance lessons last night, a little different from last week, and we weren’t allowed in the beginner’s classes, so it was quite funny. The intermediate class has guys who have been there for several months, and guys who have only just moved up. I say guys, because Lija, myself and one other girl were constantly ‘shared’ among the guys!
But the experienced class is mostly females so I spose it all evens out eventually. Anyway, last night we went on to learn the Suzie Q, the bow tie, the cross partner move, and the cuban turn – which, yes, was a spin – and also yes, one of the guys made me spin about four times in a row and then I just stopped like, don’t make me do that again! I got pretty dizzy by the end – the guys seem to think the spinning is the best bit, but I think the simple mambo and cucaracha are sexy enough because it’s a real close dance move.
I have to say, I got all sorts – a few of the annoying ones from last week, but I danced with a guy who was like a whole foot taller than me, one who was half a foot shorter than me, I mean, you name it, I got it. One of the guys in particular was helping me out, because for some reason I just couldn’t get steps when we put them together – it was just going too fast. So when we had our half time break, we had a bit of a practice together, and when we all went back to put it all together – I got it!
Ok, well the catch is that if a guy is a good lead, the girl doesn’t have to do much but follow, so if she stuffs up it’s his fault! haha Well, that helped me cos once I got the steps, I just had to follow the guy’s signals. I felt like I was flying with some of them, especially the ones who were twirling me haha!
Lija left at ten (booty call haha j/k!) and I didn’t get home till half eleven! What a night!
