Mein kaput Fahrrad
Dieses Morgen fahren ich zur Schule und mein Fahrrad kaput bekommt.
That’s right, we’d only been riding for twenty minutes and I could feel the clunk…clunk…clunk on the back wheel of my bike, so I had to lock it up and catch the train to school, and go back for it afterwards. It’s now in the Fahrradlagen (bike shop) being repaired for me by a lady that doesn’t speak English but I’m sure she said it would only cost €11 and I can pick it up at 5.30. That is too late for me so I asked her if tomorrow was okay, she was very nice about it and it seems quite a busy place. I actually found a car repair place and asked the guy in there where I could find the bike repair shop and there was one just down the street.
It has been really hot today, the dry heat with the sun bearing down. And again the afternoon likes to have a short but sweet downpour and become fine. It is very strange, but I don’t mind.
Yesterday we had our meeting about the project. For those of you who don’t know, I’m here in Berlin for the summer to work on a travel guide aimed at students coming to Berlin for the first time. It is published and distributed around various schools and hostels, and last year they even sold it on Amazon and eBay as a PDF. We squished 20 people into one of the apartments, only half the group, and had to tell our editor Caroline what experience we have and what we’d like to do. There are only three of us with professional experience in writing, and quite a few people that are more interested in the audio visual and design side of things.
I have a few ideas on what I would like to write and how I’d like to see things done, but I think they didn’t like how the meeting went because this afternoon’s plans have been changed to a ‘progress meeting’, which sounds sehr interressant. I’m not sure it’s being organized in the right way, although they must know what they’ve been doing because the program’s been running for a few years now. It is still the first week although they do expect us to have it completed by the fourth week.
In German class today we had Saeeda’s husband come and teach us. His name is Kenzo and he is half German and half Japanese, and totally reminded me of Johnny Depp’s possible brother. It is their fifth anniversary today and he is taking her out to dinner, so we were talking about ordering in a restaurant. He even dressed up in an apron and vest for us! We had to write a dialogue for a conversation between waiter and guests.
I was watching Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo in German last night while I was doing my homework 🙂
