February 05, 2004I am back! Chile is Amazing
Sorry my friends! I have left you! Actually.. I managed to find some places WITHOUT INTERNET!! And i made some great new friends...
After leaving you last with those great glacier pictures, look here, I took a 13 hour busride north to the border town of Los Antiquas and prepared to cross over into chile. On the bus I bonded with my fellow tortured travelers (we were thrashed around at the musical whims of our driver) and 4 of us ended up sharing a room. After a great night of partying (including Chris and Dick who were not in our room) we crossed the border into chile. Hester and i decided to walk, it was quicker. We thought. :) as it turns out, the 5k walk was a 25k walk.. and with my massive backpack, that stung. Here is a lesson I keep learning. People can not estimate down here. lol. The onward journey to Pto Tranquilo was spectacular. Some of the pictures from that trip are here. When we arrived in the town, I convinced our drive to take us up to a great cabin i spotted. In an amazing stroke of timing and luck, it was JUST free and had 6 beds. Wow We spent a spectacular 4 days in that amazing little town. Riding through the hills to hidden lakes, visiting islands of marble, catching the best trout ever, and eating it. The water was so cold, but the amazing, sureal scenery made up for it. Click to see Pictures from this great section of the trip Chris, Dick, Hester, Ester, Raoul, and I had a blast, and were sad to leave. Traveling together to Chaitain we had ANOTHER amazing day with 4000 year old trees and spectacular waterfalls. Wow! :) I am going to see Lia and Thomas in Pto Montt now, and I am taking a high speed ferry through the fiords. :) Not much time left, its going to fly by. Chile is spectacular. Why arenīt you all here now?
