Nepal Trekking

Day one
After a day in Pokhara we took a mini van up to a small village where we started our trek. About half way into it I suddenly started up a story called “The Adventures of Timothy Mouse” which I had to stop at the end of the trek. The first day was pretty easy;mostly flat, a little uphill, and downhill too. We stopped at a little cafe for lunch where Bjorn and I picked up sticks and sword fought with them. At the end of the day we stayed at a little hotel. At all of the hotel menus there was always a choice of hot chocolate and popcorn. They have those items everywhere in Nepal.

Day two
On our second day most of our hike was stairs. They were very steep stairs that lasted for about a long time. We had breaks though and once we got to the top I had my candy bar. We stopped and had lunch, then continued on. On the second day I finished “The Adventures of Timothy Mouse”and at the very end started up a new story, “A Tale of Four Goats”.

Day three
On the third day we woke up at about 4:00 am and hiked up to Poon hill to see the sunrise over the Himalayas. It turned out to be really pretty, and a clear day. Before the sun rose it was absolutely freezing. There was a little hot drink stand. So mom bought Bjorn and me hot chocolates and a coffee for herself. After the sunrise we hiked back, packed our stuff, and started our hike. This was probably the longest day. It was about an 8 hour trek; so I got lots of story telling in. I finished A Tale of Four Goats, and started and finished all of these: The Hungry Yeti, An alien in the Himalayas, Journey to Chicken Paradise, And the Revenge of Two Ladybugs.

Day four
This was the last day of our trek. When I woke up I felt dizzy and nauseous. But after awhile I recovered and we started our hike. I didn’t tell any stories that day, but made up a village called: The Chocolate Cake Village. At the end of the day we arrived back in Pokhara.

View of Annapurna South from our guesthouse on the morning of day four. Notice the prayer flags on the roof of one of the houses along with the ever present satellite dish.

We wore rhododendron flowers on our packs from the huge rhododenron trees in bloom along the trail until these children asked for them near the end of the trail.

Emma, I love your story of the trek – especially the chocolate parts. You and Bjprn are growing! Please say hello to your Family from (still snowy) CO.

Wow, that sunrise photo looks like it could be a postcard! Must have been amazing to be there in person! (I would definitely suggest making a calendar from all your travel photos to give to all your families next year, it is easy to do and you certainly have the pictures.)

Emma, I hope you are writing down your stories so you can share them with us when you get back. The titles sound so interesting that I want to read them!! Especially the one about the four goats – is this about your family or a goat family?
