Pretty Phat altar at one of the many catholic churches in the Old Town part of Quito. I think its wood carvings coverd in gold. The spanish built the churches on top of sacred temples of indiginious peoples in South America in order to facilitate the destruction of their native culture. Turns out all of the chuches are in a straight line, as the indians built their tempels to coordinated with the movements of the sun. Pretty interesting shit, so at particular times of the day, the sun perfectly illuminates specific things in the church like Jesusī heart and the Holy spirit. Comments
