Last of Bolivia / Nuestro final en Bolivia

Time sure does fly when you're having fun! It's been over a week since we moved on from Bolivia and are now enjoying the good life in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Before we get into that though, we still owe a last update to Bolivia, and to what was probably the most impressive scenery we have seen so far during our months of travel. The bar is being pushed further and further for that title of "most impressive scenery" but the salt plains in Uyuni and the surrounding area jumped straight to top of our list (purely for it's sheer uniqueness).

At first, the idea of being bundled into a cramped jeep and spending 3 consecutive days bouncing over rough terrain doesn't sound too appealling. Once those wheels start rolling though and you get a glimpse of the visually orgasmic surroundings, you know you're going to be in for a treat.

We had a nice bunch along for the ride including a Dutch couple, two girls from Slovenia and a Canadian girl. Unfortunately the guide was pretty moody and we had to humour him at times. The scenery more than made up for this though and some of the highlights along the way were getting up close to some steaming geysers, seeing the green and red lakes (coloured due to a mix of algae, minerals and sunlight) and stopping off to check out the view of an active volcano. Saving the best for last, watching the sunrise over the salt plains was surreal and a great reward for all our effort.

I'm afraid like the last entry of the Bolivian Amazon, we're going to have to resort to some visual aids again to give you a taste of what we witnessed. Let's just say that it left us "speechless"!

El tiempo vuela cuando te lo estás pasando bien!

Ya hemos dejado Bolivia atrás y ahora estamos en Argentina disfrutando del buen tiempo. Pero antes de hablaros de como nos va por aquí debemos explicaros lo que vimos en Bolivia durante nuestros últimos días en el país. La belleza natural (de nuevo) nos dejó boquiabiertos.

Cuando llegamos a Uyuni la idea de meternos en un Jeep durante tres días cruzando senderos de tierra no nos hacía mucha gracia. Pero una vez nos montamos en el 4x4 y empezamos a ver esos parajes tan únicos nos olvidamos por completo de todo lo demás.

Con nosotros estaban una pareja de holandeses con los que nos llevábamos muy bien, 2 chicas eslovacas y una canadiense. Desafortunadamente el conductor del Jeep estaba de mal humor o algo raro así que de vez en cuando teníamos que hacerle alguna gracia para que se animara.

Entre las maravillas que vimos están los geysers (ver la foto para descripción) el lago verde y rojo (el color es debido al viento moviendo las algas que se mezclan con los minerales que crean el color) y un volcán activo que vimos de lejos. Pero dejamos lo mejor para el final. Ver el amanecer en los salares fue sin duda la mejor recompensa después del duro viaje.

Así que sin más demora os dejamos con las fotos ya que no encontramos mejor manera de mostraros estos lugares con tanto carisma y genialidad.
