BootsnAll Travel Network

Namaste!

In the words of the immortal Bob Seegar, I think I’m going to Kathmandu! But first, a couple of quick admin. notes:

-We are aware of the tech. issues with having to ‘approve’ of each comment that all of you leave…we are working on it with our blog host. It seems we may need to manually approve each comment, which is fine, however it may take some time as we only get to the internet about once daily. I know our growing legions of fans and followers want to be heard, and we want to hear from everyone, but bear with us for right now. Management is working on the problem.

-secondly, it’s been brought to the attention of the blogger, repeatedly, actually, that often times the spelling on these posts may not be perfect most of the time. Basically, every time I write a post, and ask Cheryl to read it from across the internet cafe, she will sit there, smile her beautiful smile while reading, and spit out list of my incorrectly spelled words from across the room. Look, we all know the spelling’s not going to be perfect. It’s a blog. There’s no rough, 1st, or 2nd draft. (NOTE – Cheryl writing here – it’s DELHI not DEHLI). Thank you, Cheryl. Cheryl, everyone. Anyway, it’s just a running journal of the events as they come out of our head(s). So again, our apologies, bear with us.

THAT SAID! We’ve made it to Nepal! After yet another death-defying cab ride to the airport (cheryl’s just shaking her head right now, it really is impossible to describe a Delhi cab ride) we got to the airport in plenty of time to catch our flight to Kathmandu. We were picked up at the airport and had a very nice ride through the city. Much much more clean, pretty, and overall nicer place than were we were previously (Sorry, Delhi), and all the locals seem pretty nice. Have to say a much more touristy, westernized (we were on board with all kinds of Americans, Europeans, etc.), area, however not so much to where it takes away from the place. We are certainly still in a 3rd world area. There is still a large amount of ‘unpleasantness’ however overall it’s a beautiful country and we are enjoying it immensely. We are staying at a great place called the International Guest House (http://www.ighouse.com/) for 3 days until we begin our trek. Just had a great dinner (at a place called the Roadhouse Cafe, had a really good pizza and a beer, our first since we’ve been here), and we’re going to go cruise the streets of Thamel. More on the Thamel tomorrow….until then
