Fez and London

We’ve been so busy traveling that we’ve neglected our blog for the past few weeks. Here are some of Emma’s journal entries to get you all a little up to date.

October 24, 25, 26
Today we took a bus to Fez. When we got there we went into the Medina. There were a bunch of chickens and cats. There were no cars or motorcycles. There were narrow streets. When we got to our hotel there was a cat that liked to sit on our laps while we did our school. That night we went to Cafe Clock. There was a bunch of loud music playing because ladies were playing on drums.

The next day we wandered around the souks. We stopped at a craft shop. Bjorn got a notebook and some clay, and I got a fountain pen. We also stopped at a spice shop. We got some amber. The guy who owned the shop gave me a berber tattoo, but he washed it off after.
The next day Mom and I went out. We bought a bunch of scarves, four little shoe key chains, and a purse for me. Dad went out to fix Bjorn’s shoes. Fourteen people offered to buy Bjorn’s shoes. At the end of the day we took a flight back to London.

October 17, 28
Today we woke up and went to a new place in London. But it wasn’t very nice. Later we went out to an outdoor shore and and another store to look for some running shoes for Daddy. He left his old ones on the terrace at the hotel in Fez. At the end of the day we went to see the place where Despicable Me was showing, but it was too late.
The next day we went to the London zoo. First we saw the aquarium, which wasn’t that good. Then we went to the reptile house and saw Komodo dragons. It had a bunch of snakes and lizards. Then we went to see the camels and pygmy hippos. The next place we went was the big cats exhibit. Then we went to the bug part. There were a bunch of weird bugs there. After that we went to Foyle’s bookstore. I got Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of Nimh.

October 29, 30
Today we went to the British museum. We saw the Chinese part with mom and dad. There was a lot of Buddhas, jade things, and Calligraphy supplies. Then mom and Dad left, and Bjorn and me looked at the Japanese section.

The next day we went to the Victoria and Albert museum, while Dad and Bjorn went to the National History museum. We went to the Islamic art, which had a bunch of stuff about mosques and calligraphy.
Then we went to the Japanese room, which was a lot like the British museum’s japan, except smaller. We also saw the plaster casts. There was a huge Trajan’s column from Rome, and Michelangelo’s David. We saw the bronze and metal, and we went to some other rooms. I got a postcard of cats having their afternoon tea.

October 31- Happy Halloween!
Today we woke up early and dropped our bags off at king’s cross station. Then we went up to Hampstead Heath. We went shopping for Halloween candy. Then we went to a book store. I got a super good book called Search for Wondla.
Later in the day we went on a plane to Egypt. They gave us a little Olympic activity book, some postcards from random places, a sticker sheet, a pen, a little bag to put them in, a pair of socks, a thingy that you put over your eyes to help you go to sleep, and a toothbrush. I watched Avatar, and Toy Story 3. I liked British Airways.
