Great Ocean Road
Yesterday (Monday) we (Shevahn, her sister Melania, and her daughter Logan)headed up the Great Ocean Road. There are many scenic stops along the way including the Bay of Islands Coastal Park, Loch Ard Gorge (the site where the English ship the Loch Ard sunk in 1878), and the most popular 12 Apostles. Although, there are about 8 standing currently. The 12 Apostles are made of limestone and stand about 65 meters above the water. It was a great day with beautiful weather-it is heading into summer and was quite warm.
We then went to Otway Fly Tree Top Walk. Yep, exactly what it sounds like!You walk through the Otway Ranges and rainforest to reach the walkway. It is about 25 meters above greound. The highest point is the cantilever (like a viewing tower) and that is about 47 meters above ground. The scenery was great but the swaying of the walkway is interesting. Apparently, there are only two other walkways like this in the world, one in Western Australia and one in Tasmania. This one was the longet structure of its kind in the world, about 600 meters long. Hey girl,
The trip along the Great Ocean Road and the Otway Fly Treetop Walk sound fabulous — and great picture-taking too, I’m sure.
Glad you’re finally “down under” with your friend, Shevahn.Know that you guys will fun together.
All is the same here in Florida, although it’s a little cooler now — very pleasant in the evenings and of course, it’s dark when we leave work now because we changed the clocks last Saturday.
Hallowe’en at work was okay — only a few folks dressed up. Diane was a great Elvira (purple and black wig and all — actually her wig looked like Cher’s (;)
Got to go now — really busy at work. Jon is looking very tired and is counting the days until you return.
Miss you and hope your journey to Oz continues to be fun!
