Final Countdown Pt II

Tuesday, November 14th, 2006

1 month of work left. 6 weeks till I begin my journey.

I’m officially cancelling the plans to do a safari this time around. Instead i’m going to spend the first 10-12 days in Ethiopia. It is really difficult to join a safari group as a single traveler and if I do get on one it will cost me a lot more than i’m wanting to pay right now. I decided instead to do a gorilla trek with Daisy in Parc National des Volcans in Rwanda. The mountain Gorillas in Africa are extremely endangered and I figure the chance to see them will lessen as time goes on. However, a safari in the Serengeti should be something I can do in the future and probably very soon at that. It will give me a great reason to return to the continent with friends or family and share something new with them and maybe couple it with a climb of Kilimanjaro.

Where am I Going? Pt II

Tuesday, November 7th, 2006

I started this blog back in June and one of my earliest posts was about where I was hoping to go and I’m glad I wrote it down because it shows me how difficult it really is to figure out what I want to do with my trip. This is a rough itinerary of the places I plan on going (As of today, November 7th 2006)

Kenya, Ethiopia, Tanzania/Zanzibar, Rwanda, DR Congo, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, China (HK only), Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Myanmar (Burma)

It will be interesting to see how this plays out as I’m sure i’ll visit a country that isn’t on my list or i’ll skip a few of them.
