Pre-travel Budgeting

Hola hola! As many of you know I want to travel. I´ve been working and trying to safe enough money to do it since last August, uff you say that fast but…, so I thought I would share some of my plans and hopes with you all.

My initial plan was to start travelling last October, after working in Ibiza, but the money I got wasn´t anything with what I really need. So I decided to stay in Spain and work for a year more.

I´m planning on doing a 10 month journey, starting from Iran or Israel (I haven´t decided yet) and get to the eastest country I can, doing it almost by land. This means I´ll try to go thru Pakistan, India, Nepal, Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, Hong Kong, China, Philippines, Malasia, Indonesia, Australia, New Zealand. There are of course some countries, that I will skip or miss because of visa impediments of border entry, but I don´t have an exact plan and every contry is worth visiting. There are some sections wich can´t be done by land, so I´ll try to do them in another cheap way.

I would love to fly to Chile from Australia or New Zealand. If I´m able to do it, I´ll start my way back to Colombia by bus, travelling thru Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Brasil, Paraguay, Bolivia, Perú and Ecuador.

I know it looks and sounds VERY VERY ambitious, but “the one who doesn´t dreams does not accomplish”.

It is a long way and therefore I need quite a good bit of money, butv that´s why I´m in Ibiza, preparing myself for a very long and stressful summer :).

So now some budget and numbers:

I´m planning to safe between 8.500€ and 10.000€. I have a saving plan wich if I follow I´ll have 8.600€ by the end of September, but I might work until middle of October wich would mean may be 600€ more. That amount is only from my wages and does not include: tips, moto sell or summer bonus (wich I might get after finishing the seasson), so it kinda looks doable or attainable.

From all that money, 3.500€ go to: Airfare, Germany- Iran (800€), New Zealand – Chile (1.500€), and Visas (500€). Also trasport in Asia and South America, mainly buses (700€).

This will leave me with 5.000€ for living abroad. That´s 500€ per month and about 16€ per day. I´m not worried for Asia or South America having this budget per day, but Australia and New Zealand could be a problem. I don´t know may be I could work for a couple of days while abroad, if possible.

Ok, sorry for the long post, I just wanted to tell you how the planning was going. Any comments on budgeting or countries are very wellcome as always, and of course about other things as well.

My thought are with you

Simon
