MORE FALAFELS AND SHAWARMA, PLEASE!!!
After staying up all night with Arwen in London, taking the bus with all the drunks at 4 am to the airport, and getting the last row in the full airplane, we landed tired in Tel Aviv where we were graciously picked up by Judy. She whisked us away to northern Israel where Eve’s family was vacationing. We have spent the last few days hanging at the beach on the Mediterranean. It is HOT here. Todd says he feels like Moses. Todd also went into his first synagogue, and then taught Lisa how to spell it. Below is a picture from a port city called Caesarea. It is the ruins of a Roman village from 37 BC. It was amazing how easy it was to visualize the city. There were pillars from palaces, marble where bathtubs were and even still intricate mosaic’s on the floors. Lisa was riding horses in the hipodrome, While gladiator Todd was running wild(don’t ask). We arrived tonight in Jerusalem. The last picture is a panoramic of the Old City in Jerusalem. Shalom

Todd may have taught Lisa how to spell synagogue, but he didn’t do a very good job with “panaramic”. But then again, I shouldn’t complain since it’s very clear that Lisa inherited her great spelling ability from me and not her linguist mother.
Keep the pictures flowing…if they get any better I just may have to get on the next plane!!!
Glad to hear you guys are safe. It looks beautiful and not at all like I had envisioned. Keep us posted. We all miss you!
And, I have to resist the temptation of correcting the spelling of another word. Smile!
You two are nowhere near the Gaza Strip, right? Where are you, exactly? Do you have a local map to show us where you are in Israel?
Glad to see you guys are having a GREAT time! Keep it up.
You all can click the link on the side –check out where we’ve been– and it will bring you to a map. You can zoom in by area to see it better!!
I see you fixed the spelling….here and in London too!! wow! I didn’t think my comments would have such a big effect…guess I’m flaterred!!!
Hi Todd and Lisa! We are so impressed with your sense of adventure and this round the world trip. Sounds amazing. Just wanted to send our best wishes and let you know that we are thinking of you. The pictures are great. Have fun and be careful!
We had a terrific time in Israel with Todd and Lisa and the whole family! The wedding of Natalie and Oded was quite an event, from the Sephardic henna ceremony to a joyous dance-a-thon. Those Morrocan Jews sure know how to party! We said good-bye to the blogmasters, and sent them on their way for their final week in Israel. They are exploring beaches of the world, I think! (PS. Savta is grandmother in Hebrew)
Hi Lisa and Todd,
you’re right, it was hot in Israel. It was so much fun with you and Todd in Israel. I hope you like the Dead Sea. When I went to the Dead Sea, I couldn’t go into the water since I had a lot of boo-boo’s, but I know it’s fun and I’ll go next time!
Have a safe trip. I love you. Elia.
I heard from Lisa today in the form of a message left on my answering machine. They had just been to the Dead Sea and were heading for the Red Sea- stopping in Eliat and then maybe going to Jordan. This is just where those terrorists tried to blow up some American ships a few weeks ago….so BE CAREFUL…and don’t accept any packages from creepy looking people!!!!!!
Mom and I were talking about you this morning and your possible trip to Petra. I wish you can make it there since it is extraordinary! The Nabataeans, who settled there 2000 years ago knew how to do the right things. I don’t think I’ve ever seen any site that old and that well conserved. http://www.atlastours.net/jordan/petra.html
Have a lot of fun and bargain some jewelry in the shaded and hidden spots of the rugged mountain.
Love. Eve
I just looked at your map! Charlottesville Seventh Day Adventist Church? Silver Spring Church of Christ? Is there something you need to tell us? Is your trip to Israel a cover for a pilgrimage??
Alooooha to you two! It looks like things are right on track. When you make it to the wall, say a prayer for me, I had a bar mitzvah there! I am so jealous that you are on the other side of the world, but hopefully you will continue to inspire us to do the same sometime soon..when the kids grow up!
Take care of yourselves and be SAFE. Keep the pics flowin’, miss you both
shaka!!!
