By the time you read this, we will be 18 Meters under the Andaman Sea!!
Khao Sok was really fun. We were going to do an organized hike tour but decided to do it on our own instead. We did some good jungle trekking and ended up with leeches… but only on our feet, not like in “Stand By Me”. Then we found a great river pool and swam around until a bunch of vicious monkeys came and chased us out!!
We are sitting around Khao Lak waiting to leave on the boat. It is very eirry around here Because it got hit very hard by the tsunami. The road here had half built houses everywhere with thank you signs to different foundations. And in town there are new buildings, but the road is still being rebuilt and the buildings are still vacant. Its Just very strange because you can really feel the devistation here….we’re hopping on a boat outta here ASAP!!!!
Here are a few pics
These first few are on Koh Lanta
Momma J- This is the reason we called a day late for your birthday!!
These ones are from the National Park.. If you click on the pic with the vines, you can see all the monkeys hanging around!!

just so you guys know, somebody IS minding the store while you are out playing! I’ve just paid a doctor’s bill and dentist’s bill for Lisa….left over from your past life. They aren’t for much, but the other alternative was to send the collection agency to your address in Thailand and I didn’t want to break up the party……
you guys are very lucky to have such responsible parents (all of us)……..
-a jealous dad.
Khao Lak used to be extremely popular with Swedish tourists (trying to escape the Swedish Winter to what they considered paradise). When the tsunami hit last December, many thousand Swedish tourists were there celebrating Christmas. Several hundred of them drowned and some are still missing. Many locals and tourists from other countries died as well. So I can understand that it is a strange place at this time and that you are happy to leave.
I hope you have a great diving adventure!
Love,
Lou
Looking for Todd and Lisa…… Are you still underwater?????!!!!! Or are you afraid to tell us about your recent wonderful experiences??????? We here on the mainland and on the east coast are freezing if you care.
Cece, I agree. This is the voice of your Mom’s: Are you still underwater????!!!! And are you going to celebrate Todd’s birthday along with the turtles and angelfish??? Over here, we are getting set up for Thanksgiving, which y’all have probably totally forgotten about by now. Remember turkey, not turtle, on Thursday.
Happy B’day Toddie, wherever you are out there….
Love,
Momma J.
One of the disadvantages of Lisa and Todd having posted so regularly to this blog in the past, is that we now all have expectations of them. What a pain it must be to keep all of us updated about their adventures in paradise…!!!! I, for one, think about the many times that I wandered around various places in the world BEFORE there was the internet, completely out-of-touch with the people who cared about me. It felt pretty liberating to feel that NOBODY knew where I was…and I remember feeling the growth of my independent spirit because of this.
Actually, for those of you concerned about our intrepid travellers, I just thought I should let you know that I received a briefemail from Lisa last night. She didn’t tell me where she was, but unless they have computers 18 meters under the Adaman Sea, they have surfaced, and I suspect we will be seeing a post here from them soon.
