The end of Eurotrip 07!

Bags packed, ready to go, this is the end of Eurotrip 07! Lis got a taxi to the airport to go back to Oz and work, and Lija and I waited for ages at the bus stop to go to the train station Mestro which was like a twenty minute ride and we had to squish our way onto the packed bus with our full packs on back and front.

We caught the train from Venice to Bologna and then switched from Bologna to Ancona. Both trips were about an hour and a half and we got into Ancona by 3pm. We ended up walking from the train station to the port which took about 45 minutes I think – I don’t know I was just trudging along with packs. We couldn’t check in for our ferry till 8pm, so we sat outside for a bit and watched one of the ferries come in and then when it started raining again we moved inside for the last hour.

We had to go through police check and then we just boarded our ferry and went up to our room and settled in, and went to check out the rest of the boat. We went up to the self service restaurant and an older Argentinean waiter came up to us and we said oh, we’re just having a look, and he smiles back at us and says, ‘yes, yes, so am I’ eek. We got out of there fast. We pretty much just had dinner and slept the whole way. Actually, dinner isn’t that straight forward. We had to pay 5euro boat tax which we didn’t know about so that was our dinner money gone. I still had crackers from Salzburg along with a jar of nutella, plus the cheese I bought in Amsterdam and the jams I’ve been hoarding along the way. See it comes in handy – that was dinner!
