…Nobody puts Baby in a corner…

This does actually refer to the stage musical Dirty Dancing, as my pathetic attempts to dirty dance would probably find me on the ground in the dirt rather than in some sexy pose! But more to that later…

Because our big bus tour didn’t expire until 24hours after we bought it, we hopped back on the tour bus for a while this morning, just for the fun of it! We actually got away with an extra 2hours hop on-off cos we just smiled and laughed and they didn’t check our tickets! hehe

Actually we had a really nice tour guide on the last one, all the previous buses we had earphones that we plugged in, but this young woman was really nice and knew her stuff really well. We think she was Spanish so imagine Salma Hayek talking history and you get the idea.

We got off at Trafalgar Square and walked up to the half ticks place at Leicester Square to purchase our very first West End tickets for, my favourite movie-cum-stage production of all time, Dirty Dancing.

Did I mention that it poured all day today? Bloody English weather! It’s supposed to be going into summer, but my mind tells me I should be buying winter clothes.

Moving on to the second half of the day, ladies, just say Oxford St and Regent St. Oh my God! Like we all know I’m not much for fashion, but today I’ve seen enough choice in shoes and clothes and, well, I so know where my first pay check is going to be spent. A new pair of knee-high boots – in magenta! 🙂 Nothing like a bit of colour to brighten the day in dreary old England. And boy do I mean colour, not only can you get a million different styles of shoes, but that one style can come in up to 20 different colours. I think I’ve discovered the dark side. My demon. Fashion is a bitch.

After navigating more of the tube and various bus routes, which we can now do because we have our Oysters, no I’m not crazy, I don’t mean the shellfish that live in the ocean, I mean the cards that we pre-pay and swipe as we go. You know the one, Melbourne’s version is supposed to be called the Mykey, which is unlikely to be up and running for a while longer. Let me know.

And what more can I say about Dirty Dancing. You really had to be there. The seats were a good view but up high, but it is a production that really gets you moving in your seat, the audience goes wild when Johhny rips off his shirt, when he and Baby are lying on the bed, when she’s singing Mickey and Sylvia. Your heart swoons, your spine tingles, and your mind gets transported to the person you really want to be with while all those things are going on. 🙂 The music is loud, pumping through you, the dancers come up with every move you can and can’t think of. The lights, the stage, the way they presented the story, you felt like you were there – in the water when they’re practicing lifts, in the rain when they’re running out to the car, even just the birds singing, or the giant tree trunk the actors really have to balance on.

Can I give it a *****? I think I just did.
