Chasing the sun
I almost didn’t get up today because my phone was dead so my alarm didn’t go off. It was a Sunday, but breakfast only goes till 10am, so I was lucky enough to fit some in.
The girls, who all went back to bed after breakfast, thought I was a nutter for going down to Hyde Park for a run. I didn’t realise how close I’m living to the Park, it’s literally a seven minute walk/run. I had to make myself go because Lija and I ate these huge cookies yesterday from the street market, so I was feeling a bit guilty. That being said, it was really nice for it, and with my new little baby of an iPod shuffle, which only cost me the time it took me to write 20 reviews, it was easy to cruise around with my music.
The run didn’t make much difference though because we then went and gorged today. I came back, showered and changed into my green summer dress, and headed out again (the girls roughly moaning they should get up soon – lazy buggers!) and caught the bus to Euston where I changed for one to Finsbury Park.
The Rise against Racism festival was on again, we went last year, and this year was just as good. We sunbaked at the main stage for a while, and had rice, salad and jerk chicken for lunch, and then wandered around picking up free stuff – the guys at the British Transport Police gave me a stress ball and blue jelly beans. He goes, I’m sorry to say I can’t tell you these don’t have flavourings and colourings – they are blue after all, so enjoy them now and be high later!
We had fruit salad, strawberries and cream, and ice creams (which Sarah mushed upside down on top of her fruit salad – she’s the one we’re going to La Tomatina with in August, Naomi was also there with us and we said hi to Lija’s new flatmates a bit later on). Most of the afternoon we spent basking in the sun in front of one of the smaller stages which had this tropical carribean type music happening, so it was all chilled and relaxed.
We took the bus to Highbury afterwards to see Slap, Tickle and Squeak perform. The last time i went was when we took Dad in February, it was dark and cold, but this time we sat and had a drink with Cath and one of their other work mates Holly after the show. Yet again they had us rolling in our seats!
