More Berlin

I know we’re never organised but potentially we could have fit more into today. We had heard there were markets down by the zoo, at the other end of town naturally, so we caught the bus down there.

There wasn’t a lot but I found the cutest stall with these puppets – the ones where you pull the cordand the arms and legs that were hanging limp of the 2D picture suddenly shoot through the air. The quirk is they’re all celebrities – you can get the Queen, George Bush, Robbie Williams, Marilyn Manson, etc.

We took the bus back to the Holocaust Museum and spent a while in there. Not the most fun activity but it was interesting and very sad. From there we took the U-bahn up north to a part of the Wall where we did the ‘Egil’ thing and hunted out a flea market. I saw one Diddl doll but most of it was someone else’s treasure. We started walking to where we thought was the direction back to the city centre but which turned out to be half an hour into the northern suburbs! oops! Lija and I had a good laugh, it was pretty funny.

So we got the closest U-bahn back to Alexanderplatz, where Lija and I stopped for sushi – home made and delicious! We went up the TV tower just after the sun set and had a nice dinner – I had tomato and mozzarella and herring mmm!
