Shop till we drop? – we did!
Steps: 18,500 and every part of me is feeling it!
Our intentions this morning were to buy cheap closed toe shoes to dick around in and jackets to keep us warm. Never name a street Kaufingerstraße, we all spent over our quota!
That said, we all got bargains too! I found the nicest warmest black jacket ever and some cheap sneakers to replace my dying ones back in London. Not to mention to stop my toes from freezing so much they felt like they were going to fall off for the last three days. Ha and I’m not the sick one! It’s ok, Lija got these mad-as strepsils today that totally numbed her throat, mouth, etc she said Australia’s don’t compare.
We shopped for most of the day but walked up to check out the Odeonsplatz and the English Gardens with its own surfer wave. Some glitch by Mother Nature left a permanent wave in the river and even today in the rain five people were kitted up in their wet-suits taking it in turns to ride the wave for as long as they could.
We walked back down the central town Marienplatz to see the famous Glockenspiel chime at 5pm, a little anti-climatic with the scaffolding surrounding it – still there two years after Lija saw it. We bumped into the Viktualienmarkt on the way to Hofbrauhaus, which is a farmer’s market where Lija and I stood and ate Leberkäse in rolls mmm! The Hof was busy but very touristy, interesting to see – supposedly this is where Hitler looked to the roof to see the Jewish sign and turned it backwards to make the swastika.
We did the washing and packed our bags, some hassle from the two girls in our 8 bed dorm room who were complaining that we were packing our bags with the lights on and chatting quietly at ten thirty at night, yet it’s ok for them to barge in the last two mornings from clubbing, tripping over the crap they left everywhere and making noise, not to mention leaving all their crap in the bathroom. So Lija told them where to go, only thing is they’re on our bus tomorrow to Paris. Hmm, wonder when they’re going to get up and pack their bags?
I still have to go back and wash my greasy traveller’s hair and pack my bath stuff, meh.
I’ve really enjoyed Municha and speaking German, even though I reluctantly followed into every shoe shop (Lis ONLY bought two pairs today!) I enjoyed finding some nice clothes and saw all the sites worth seeing.
Off to Paris!
