Update

Alright kids, so my last post was filled with hope and a laid back attitude. I wrote that post about 6 hours ago. Four hours of aimless wandering after that post put little mikey into a bit of a bad mood. I wandered across the river, back across the river, down random streets, to an area where there apparently was a hostel, I wandered and I wandered and there was no hostel to be found. thank god or whatever religious entity you choose to worship, that I asked my Dad to bring me my Lets Go guidebook, because I flipped it open and discovered a hostel that seemed cheap and right near the area I wanted to spend my day in. Granted it took me most of the day I wanted to spend to get back there, and by the time I got there mike was in a bit of a pissy mood, but I found it and things have been looking up since. I got the last bed in the entire place, I’m sharing only a three bed dorm room with two guys from Romania who seem to be pretty cool, I forget their names though. On the walk out and back down to my bookstore, there was a bakery, I stopped in and got my pain au chocolat straight out of the oven, so it was so hot and so good and my dear lord thinking about it just makes me drool. After that I wandered aimlessly to try and find my bookstore, and it ended up not taking that long at all, and on the way I also found the all Canadian Bar. And get this, they had guiness on tap. So I sat down, collected my thoughts as my cute canadian waitress who spoke as much french as I do brought me my guiness (the best I’ve had since Ireland) and I thought I’d wander down to the internet cafe to tell you the good news. So in a little while I’ll be off to my bookstore, to read, to calm myself down, to try to doze off a little. I think my dinner tonight will consist of another pain au chocolat and un autre Guiness, and tommorrow I will be trying to make my way towards Lyon or something, I’m not sure. Just thought I’d let you all know. Oh yes, and my shoulder is killng me from lugging my too heavy backpack around for hours upon hours, so lets hear those suggestions for what Mikey should be tossin.

    Hi,
Ive never posted before, but have read everyone of of your posts with interest. Im 18, and from BC, and have been wanting to do the exact thing your doing for sometime. I have a few questions about your trip so far, how long are you planning on staying for?, how much money do you intend to spend?, and is a train pass, such as the eurorail pass you have, worth it, or are you better off to buy tickets as you go? Thanks for any help you can give me man.
