Round Lake State Park, Idaho

July 29th -30th

We made a brief overnight stop in the Idaho Panhandle on our way to Glacier National Park in Montana. Since we were traveling over a weekend, we made a reservation in the only available campsite we could find near Coeur d’Alene (the Idaho town near the Washington border.) We ended up in camping in Round Lake State Park, a cozy little campground next to a small lake popular for fishing and swimming. After a long drive, it felt good to take a swim in the lake before dinner. From the beach we spotted two bald eagles perched in a tree next to the lake. One would wait while the other would go search for food (presumably they were feeding babies, but we couldn’t see them.) The following morning, we did the nature walk around the lake where we spotted something swimming in the river- possibly a beaver because we could see the makings of a beaver dam. We also spotted the same bald eagle from the day before perched in her tree.
