Bharatpur, Keolodeo Ghana Bird Sanctuary
After several intense days of sight-seeing, we needed a little break. We met Josh and Marisa in Bharatpur at the Keolodeo Ghana Bird Sanctuary. We rented bikes and binoculars and set off in the park. It was absolutely amazing. This is a world renowned site for migratory birds, and this year we were particularly lucky as the monsoon brought good rains. We saw literally thousands of birds including painted storks, purple herons, grey herons, great egrets, small egrets, cormorants, parakeets, peacocks and pheasants. We also saw spotted deer, antelope, wild boars, spiders, turtles and Fabien’s favorite: pythons. This was truly the most impressive example of wildlife we have ever seen.
