117: Kawaguchi-Ko
Arrived in Kawaguchi-Ko today after a 2 hour bus drive. Weather here is fab, sunny, clear sky and not too cold (around 12C which is fine as long as the fun is out;-) and the view of little Mount Fuji is dead exciting..
Sadly I blogged earlier but lost the post due to a computer hitch *grrr* Won’t retype it all now cos its getting late and I spent an hour already plus I get charged for internet at the hotel so just a quick note that I’m rather chuffed about my choice of accomodation. Went with Lonely Planet recommendation and asked the Tourist Information in Kawaguchi-Ko to make a reservation at Sunnide Hotel for me. They have a special backpacker deal for 4000 yen if booked through the tourist information and this is the cheapest option apart from the youth hostel. I was rather pleased to find out that they gave me a suite overlooking the Lake and Mount Fuji!!! Tell ya the view couldnt be better.
Plus the place has a hotspring onsen and an outdoor and indoor spa at that, magic!
I have not tried an outdoor one yet so this will be interesting (its chilly outside but no doubt the water will be HOT at 42C like the other onsen I have been to).
I will do some hiking tomorrow and maybe walk up Mount Fuji a bit (notpossible to go up all the way cos ots the wrong season (too cold and windy up there). But then again some other peaks nearby might be better to get a good view of Mt Fuji.. we shall see.
