Welcome friends. I frequently receive emails from people asking how they can break into the travel writing game. My goal here is to provide a behind-the-scenes glimpse at the day-to-day life of a full-time travel writer.

By sharing a few stories and snapshots from my research-driven ramblings that haven't made it into the guidebooks that I've edited, researched and written for travel publishers Fodor's and Lonely Planet during the past decade, I hope to shed some useful light on my profession.

I also hope to provide some commentary and links to independent and alternative travel-related events and current affairs pieces.
