March 25, 2005Day 164: Te Anau
We had decided only to stay in Queenstown for one day. If you are not there for the action (bungy, jetboating, rafting...) it's not really an interesting town, so we moved on. It had been raining steadily all night and our tent was soaked. We packed up after breakfast and took off for the three hours' drive to Te Anau in the rain. As I serve him chocolate and drinks while he is driving, Keiron has taken to calling me his 'trolley dolly' (derogatory term for stewardess)... The weather cleared steadily though, and by the time we got there, it was hot and sunny once more. The Te Anau top 10 Park is great, and we have a nice secluded spot behind a hedge. In the kitchen, an 85 year old from Cambridge with a saliva problem was telling us how he loved travelling and his sleeping bag and how other people -especially family- drove him bonkers. We figured he probably was a little bonkers already. Keiron booked a quad bike trip, and we walked into town to have icecream. My eyes were bigger than my belly and I had two scoops, which I could barely finish. The rest of the afternoon and evening, we didn't do too much, just relaxed in the holiday park. Comments
