October 26, 2004Day 18: Catching up
It´s now Monday 25 October and I am catching up with this blog and all the emails. Spanish was good and afterwards at salsa I got to dance with Angél, and I asked Yoyi to take some fotos, which she did. The lesson was OK but there was one turn I couldn´t get the hang of and I nearly lost my balance a few times. Afterwards, I went to the bank and there was a huge queue and an American woman shouting English at the person behind the counter. I had a sandwich and went to Etecsa, where a Cuban was sitting with his Spanish nephew (from Valencia). The Cuban started saying to me how pretty I was, and didn´t I want to talk to him. I said ´tengo novio´but that didn´t detain him. Luckily the Spanish guy got tired of his flirting cousin and they went, only to bump into me later as I went to the Habana Libre (the computers at Etecsa seem to be getting worse by the day). He asked if he was that ´feo´ which is ugly, to which the truthful answer would have been yes, but of course I couldn´t say that so I invented a friend I needed to meet. White lies come very easy here... Comments
Incidentally, there are a lot of old buses from ´De Lijn´ (the Belgian bus company) touring around here. So that´s why they´re always late! They´re running on Cuban time! Posted by: Nat on October 26, 2004 12:28 AM |
