August 18, 2004Countdown
So here it is, my very own travel blog. This is the status quo: I have 10 working days left before I can say goodbye to my workmates and boy, am I looking foward to it. I have been making countdowns since April, treasuring every paycheck and cursing the Inland Revenue for keeping so much to themselves. Don't they know I'm going travelling soon? The tickets have been booked, the jabs jabbed, the trips and language course organised, the travelguides (those bright blue ones you can recognise from miles away, you know the ones I mean) wrapped in brown paper so as to make them less conspicuous and my brand new boots have been tramping over the Surrey Hills to get them broken in. 52 nights from now, I'll be tossing and turning and having anxiety dreams about missing the plane and losing my passport, before taking off in a taxi to London Heathrow. Between now and then I need to move out of my flat, visit my friends and family in Belgium and say goodbye to my boyfriend for four months, as he will be leaving two weeks before me. Hmm... So if you want to witness the growing panic, look back here often... Comments
