Well, yesterday certainly was an exiting first day. After spending the whole day in three planes, we finally got to the Nicaraguan airport and it turns out we lost all of our luggage, except mine. So we told them to send it to hotel Mozante, our place for the night. We hired a taxi driver and made off for the hotel. On the way a few boys in the street came and tried to sell us little woven ornament like things. Mom closed the window and we drived on. Our driver dropped us off at Hotel Maracas, the wrong hotel. We thought it was a scam, but we got back in the cab and he brought us to the right one. Hotel Mozante told us they had a problem with the pipes and we were given rooms at hotel Maracas. The taxi driver had been driving us to the right hotel. It was just poor translation. In fact, Hotel Mozante actually did send us an E-mail telling us about he whole deal. Regardless, our patient taxi driver drove us back to the first hotel, and we finally got a room. I think it was a pretty bad first day. I hope today will be much better. We are going to the beach, and it’ll be good to actually see Nicaragua.
