The New Year Begins

The last part of 2010 was a little hectic and a lot emotional, but we managed to move our things and ourselves from Romania to France without too much hastle. We were welcomed to Picardie with about half a meter of snow- apparantly the biggest snowfall they’ve had in 33 years- the last one being the week Fabien was born 😉
I almost forgot how much we eat and drink when we are in France…there are many missed birthdays to celebrate, along with Christmas and New Years…I lost count of the number of bottles of champagne we’ve consumed along with all the petits canapes, foie gras, gateaux (the famous buche du Noel and the galette du rois.) The last two weeks in Amiens have been packed with lots of precious time with the family, along with seeing some friends that we haven’t seen since our wedding four years ago. But we have to get moving soon if I don’t want to outgrow all of my clothes 😉
Tomorrow begins the first part of our “on the road” tour. We’re driving to Lille in the north of France to see Julien, then we’re off to Bonn, Germany to see Matthias and Stephanie and little Louan. Next is Luxembourg (Fab’s old home) to visit Mikael and Lori and meet their little one. After that we’re going to Vallandry in the French Alps for a week of skiing before heading to Six Fours (near Toulon) in the south of France to see Fab’s parents house in the south…
I’m very thankful to have this time to see old friends and spend with the family (and to discover new places.) I’ve got my fingers crossed that we don’t get stuck in a snow storm though…who’s idea was it to travel in January?

Happy New Year 2011! I hope our paths cross on the road somewhere.
