Day 169: Invercargill

We packed up a wet tent in the rain. Seemed like it was time to leave Te Anau. Dougie sounded like he had a cold, he hadn't had any serious driving to do in a while.

We drove to Invercargill via the Southern Scenic Route. We barely saw any other cars on the road, or even houses - just lots of sheep, green fields and tree-lined hills.

We arrived in Invercargill at about 12.30 and set up the still soaking tent in the pouring rain. We drove to the supermarket, but as it was Good Friday, everything was closed. The whole town was desolate and deserted, apart from... McDonalds. So we had lunch there, spent some time on the internet (about the only thing that was open) and drove back to the campsite.

Good Friday was going from bad to worse when we went to the cinema (to see Be Cool) and the sound was so bad, we got out again and asked for our money back. The girl said they were aware of the problem but it was 'the equipment'. So in the end we played scrabble at the campsite (one all), hating Invercargill, bank holidays and rain.

In the TV lounge, Keiron saw that Harry Potter was on and I convinced him to watch it... We raced into the tent, as it was still raining when we went to bed.
