Day 167: Milford Sound - day 2

I slept amazingly, though the sheets rustled quite noisily... We had to get up at 6.30 though, as breakfast was served at 7.

We both had fruit salad, and I had a cooked breakfast of scrambled eggs, tomato and toast as well! Must have been the sea air... (any excuse!)

Outside, the low hanging clouds made the scenery all the more dramatic, and Keiron and I got very snap-happy. We cruised all the way out to the Tasman Sea, passing Mitre Peak all covered in cloud, Bowen falls, Anita Bay (where the Maori foudn greenstone), St Anne Point (with a lighthouse) and Stirling Falls (lacking a bit in splendour due to the low rainfall of the last few days).

We got back to the quay at about 9.15 and jumped back on the buw with Chris, who had spent his night on the Milford Wanderer. There were lots of nasty little sandflies around - I hate those things.

The bus, incidentally, was a special sightseeing bus, with lots of windows (even in the roof) and well-positioned chairs. But as we were driving back, the windy roads made us feel a bit ill and we had seen it all before, so we kept our eyes firmly closed...

Back in Te Anau, we had lunch, checked our email and went to the supermarket. In the afternoon we played two games of minigolf, I was losing more spectacularly every time! Luckily, I won a friendly game of flipflopthrowing to save my honour.
