The Land Down Under

Well here we are in Australia and I’m afriad we have not been doing any better on keeping up with our blog here than we were in Bali, not due to lack of computer facilities but because of our not spending any time in them!
Met up with Anthony and Bob in Perth, it was great to see them again, Anthony and Jesse were nice enough to let us crash on their couch for a few days in Perth!
We rented a car, traveled down to the South camping out at beautiful beaches and amazing national parks. We did see about 200 kangaroos! When we got out of the Indian ocean and into the Southern ocean the water turned cold! My hands went numb while we were snorkeling. You can tell that is the same water that surrounds Antartica. Brrr!
Unfortunately, we also set up our tent on a nest of about 200 scorpions one night. Needless to say, I slept in the car and convinced Dave to as well.
Now we are in the ‘middle’ of Australia. Tonight we will stay in Alice Springs and tomorrow we head to ‘the rock’ Ayers rock or Uluru as the Aboriginal people call it. I’m pretty excited about that!
We went to a wildlife sanctuary yesterday and got to pet koalas and ‘roos! We also managed to climb a few moderate size peaks in the Stirling Range National Park so we even got our hiking fix in.
Wish we had checked our website sooner, we did not see Bill and Sharon’s post until it was too late.
Well the food in Australia is OK, so far no one has forced me to eat Vegemite!
Miss everyone and really, I WILL post pictures soon!

Hey guys. Thanks for the postcard. I am sure you will have many more stories like that one when you get back. Have fun climbing Ayers Rock. Kelly & I climbed the rocks at Central Park last week-does that count for anything?

Glad to see you two are still on the move, not getting caught by natural disasters. With the weather in Houston being what it is right now, I just hope they don’t have mosquitos in Australia.

Gotta agree with Sara about work, too.

To hell with the Vegemite; eat the scopions… Tastes great, but less filling! Glad to hear that everything is going well.

    Out for now,
