Still on Prague (still section 7)
Okay, I’m going to leave the bottom two entries as they are, as they sum up at least the getting to, and first day of Prague for you all!
Second day in Prague, I headed off to the Na Holmoce Hospital in the morning after breakfast.. well that was the plan but the first taxi never came and by the time the second one got me there it was almost midday! The bloody taxi cost about Kc450 too which was expensive! Arriving at the Hospital, I decided to skip my EU citizen status and go in as an Aussie to ensure I was on the tourist path, literally, the yellow paths in the Hospital! After registering on Floor 5 which cost Kc300 and paying a treatment deposit of Kc1000 I was sent to Emergency Triage, where I was seen by an elder Doctor (all my doctors spoke English) who had a look at me, chatted on his mobile phone, then wrote I had acute sinusitis and sent me to the Ontorologist – he wasn’t at all worried about my acute back pain or that it could be lived/kidney related, nope, just my nose. I headed up to Floor 7 to see the Specialist, who was a lady Dr and examined me, and then sent me on my way to X-Ray on Floor 4 to have my head/nose X-Rayed! The technician was great and thanked me for letting him practice his English haha. Then I went back to Floor 7
and waited another 10 minutes after which my X-Rays were on the specialists computer. She noted I had different or changed sinuses and the matter was not really acute, but not great either, and (broken english people) said that they could operate and puncture the sinus that afternoon – AARRRGGHHH! No thank you!!! I said I just wanted antibiotics, especially if it’s not acute and the pain would go away soon enough! So she settled on that, but said on return to home I need to see my own ENT specialist (yeah,,. i have one of those) and have a CT scan and then an operation on my sinuses otherwise my colds/flu will always turn bad. Hmmm wonder if my bone structure changed a little with my wisdom teeth being drilled out? No idea! But anyway, after 4.5 hours I headed back to the foreigner office, had to pay and extra Kc2300 and then get my medication – antibiotics, clarinase, nose spray and nose cream (never picked up the cream, the other 3 would cover it all I decided!) which cost another Kc400 – so all together I paid a LOT of Czech Crowns, however it all only added up to about Euro100 so just under 90 Pounds which really, for seeing a Doctor, a Specialist 3 times and getting an X Ray wasn’t too expensive at all!!!
After that experience I went back to the Hostel and ate some chocolate haha. Later that night, Lis and I met up with some of the guys, Nathan, Duck and Michael and headed out to the Titanic Steakhouse (reminisce from Prague 2005) and also there we met up with Lis’s sister Miranda, who’s been OS for 14 months and left today (29 Sept) to return to Australia… along with Elissa (hahhahahaha.., ok enough laughter). So once we actually found the steakhouse after walking through the rain and the boys borrowing gloves from Lis and I due to them not needing jackets… we found the place and it was great! Nicest steak and meat there… yup, even though I didn’t eat it much at home, I crave red meat over here every now and then as we don’t get it in London! After dinner we headed out to Karlovky Lane (?) a 5 story nightclub. We got there on the underground, then had to line up for AN HOUR along with heeaaps of other people before finally getting in. The place is really quite big, and so nice inside too surprisingly! Each level has a dance area, a bar or two, and a chill out area. After dancing a bit etc, we headed to Level 5 with more chilled music and couches, there we found Luke and Scruffy (i found out other day his name is actually Mark!) and they were passed out near the toilets. It was really quite funny…. the two guys sitting there, but sleeping while sitting, and so Lis and I got them water and ice, and then a little while after they woke up and were like Ohhh, It’s You Guys!!!! And yeah, god it was funny – I could type out more transcript but you probably wouldn’t find it as funny as on the night!!! Except for Scruffy hugging Luke and slurring I lloovvee youuuu (hehe told you guys I’d mention that one online – photo to come once I get hold of Michael!).
Lis and I along with Nathan, Duck and Michael headed back to the Hostel at about 0530am, and we found the bakery open at 0600am and so we had breakfast and then headed off to bedrooms! It was seriously a great night and I still love Prague!
Final day there we headed to Prague Castle for the day which was still amazing. Unfortunately the gorgeous views are now being tarnished with skyscrapers and cranes as the modern world and Euro moves into the Czech Republic. They’ll be using the Euro in 2012 and I think it’s going to hugely change the place, not to mention the economy and price of things (currently cheapest anywhere). Final evening we ate at the Hostel and also met up with Dave and Adam and Locky, and some others who we first met in Amsterdam and Berlin which was great! Nicest guys and Dave and Adam are firemen in Victoria so you gotta respect that :o) The guys all headed out to a club near the hostel, but due to early morning bus departure I headed to bed about 130 when they went out!
