New Zealand!

I’m in love. I’m finally here, and I’m in love. They don’t make you go through security to get on your plane. No digging in bags, no strip search, no taking off shoes you’ve been wearing for three days straight. I love NZ.

And the weather ain’t bad, either.

But wow, some stuff’s expensive here. I might have a different spin on this than most of the people who come here to visit, because I’ll be here for a good long time (if I don’t screw up in school). But really, 13 dollars a kilo for limes? isn’t that a bit much? More than 4 dollars for the little jar of icky old el paso salsa. Dry beans are like 2.50 a pound. It’s crazy.

And not a single pile of easter chocolate for less then 4 dollars. Bunnys start at like 8, and for something worth snacking on- it’s closer to 20.

But it’s pretty, and I can live quite well on lentils and potatoes, and noodles and stuff. I’ll just be really healthy. Ick. Healthy.

The town itself (Palmerston North) is very colorful, and for a place with less than 80k people, very busy and built up. With big tall buildings and everything. Just about anything I want I can probably find here, or if not here, it’s only a short-ish bus ride to wellington. I’m told it’ll get boring eventually, but… as I said, it’s only a short bus ride to wellington, and there’s a train to Aukland, and flights leave the local airport every hour or two. If I get bored, I can go somewhere else.

    I concurr Freaking cold here!
But Cadbury chocolate bars have been consistently on sale at most of the stores here for the past month.. for the past chocolately, fattening month.

Boring, eh? Did you tell them you lived in Laramie, WY for a good portion of your life? Getting good thai food would be one of my urgent goals.. or maybe Vietnamese? Mmmm… hot & sour soup! Or maybe.. Seafood I wouldn’t have to look cross-eyed at.. and perhaps Pocky for less than a $1 a box?

I refuse to buy any easter candy until April. Why do stores bring it out so freaking early? do they think we are going to forget about Easter? Cadbury chocolates are good and I threw away 3 eggs from last year last week. Talk about forgetting to eat something. I could have wacked the boy over the head since he claims to love them so much and yet didn’t eat the blasted things!

Any type of food the is different form Pizza and fake Chinese would be a definite improvement. And though I grew up in the god foresaken town I can still call it boring after living in Texas 15-30 minutes from 2 malls and 3-4 movie theaters. Laramie needs to liven up a bit.

Ok, the Chrissie needs to make an attempt at studying now. Bye Bye peoples.

wow- guess I’ll have to give in and tell at least some of you what the food and drink prices are looking like over here right now.

Apparently, the cadbury eggs here are totally unlike the ones in the states- have to try that out. And as for the rest of it- it’s a dollar or more for just one long row of candy. When I find a camera, I’ll have to get pictures. But think a caramellow in a wrapper the same length and width as a three musketteers bar, only not as tall.

But there is thai, and indian, and chinese, and japanese, and fish n’ chips, and mc food, and burger king.

But no mexican found yet. Anywhere. At all.

I doubt you’ll find any good mexican food (hell we’re closer and we don’t have any!), try for South American Cuisine, or Spanish stuff.. me loves the Tapas! Of course meat curing’s the specialty in those regions, but the wine’s excellent. OO! see what they got for African/South African Cuisine? Don’t forget the native specialties!
