San Diego, CA (Feb 27-29)
Stayed at a wierd hostel in Ocean Beach. There was a lot of wierd people here but at least it had a buffet free breakfast in the mornings. Lots of hippies/punks/surfers/skaters here, oh and lots of bums. Lots of partying going on everywhere every day. We me a cool Quebecois couple who were staying in the same room as us. Explored the town and beach. Lots of surfers. There is a porch on the front of the hostel and people stay up all night there drinking, playing guitar, bongos, and singing. Kind of cool but not at 4am.
Spent the day at the San Diego Zoo. Sweet! They had an area with otters and monkey in the same cage (two of Edmund’s favorite animals). The otters were all wrestling and one of the monkeys kept on trying to get on the play fighting! There was also a panda, sun bears (so cute), some wierd thing that had zebra legs, horse body, and giraffe head. Seriously, it was freaky.
Met some really cool Chilean people in our room and will hopefully hook up with them in Chile when we are there! Yeah! Headed off to Mexico!
Drove through the border no problem… except we didn’t get a tourist visa or a vehicle permit. Spent 3 hours trying to find the building and accidently ended up crossing back into the States and having to cross back again. Driving in Tiajuana was INSANE! Crazy traffic, drivers, and roads. Traffic circles = death. Mean while the car was overheating so we had to have the heat on the whole time and it was really hot out already. We stunk!
